I need to switch Premature Baby Formula, what do I use??

Hello everyone-
I am new on here and have some questions about my premature daughter's formula. Some history on my daughter Paytin: born 27 weeks gestation, 2 pounds 10 oz., we were in the NICU for 2 months and we finally brought her home about 3 weeks ago. They sent us home with Similac Neosure and Paytin can not tolerate it any longer. We have tried Similac Neosure, Gerber gentle Good Start, Efamil Gentle Ease and all seem to have the same effect.

She is unbelievably gassy, her stool is really loose, she has severe reflux and now she spits up constantly. Usually its a lot of formula she's spitting back up! I was thinking about trying a soy based formula. My peds doc said it was fine to do but I wanted other moms' opinions to see if this situation is something similar that you all have dealt with.

What formula is good for premature babies with gas/reflux and easy on the stomach where she's not spitting everything up???

Hi Jenna,

While my daughter wasn't premature, I did formula feed from the start, as we didn't mesh well with breastfeeding. I used Enfamily mainly for her, as I found the same with the Good Start. She was very gassy from that brand. There is a Soy Based Enfamil formula, as well as a Lactose Free. Similac also has a Lactose free option, Similac Senstive, and a Soy based called Isomil. These two brands are considered the best, so i'd stick with them, but it may take some time to find the right formula. Once you make the switch, you'll need to allow at least 3-5 based to see any change, whether good or bad. Is it recommended that you stick with a preemie formula or can you try one of these?

Some babies unfortunately spit up alot, regardless of the formula. Maybe try smaller, but more frequent amounts. Say instead of 100ml of 3 hours, try 50ml every 2. Those amounts are just an example obviously.

Hope you find a suitable formula soon!
