It is a tradition in my family that when you have children, the first name must start with the same letter as the first name of us...ok...lol...I had a daughter and we named her Janelle after me (Jackie) now need one for my hubby Dwayne. Not sure if it's a boy or girl. I would love some suggestions!!!!

I have a friend wih a little girl named Davey. It's unique, not sure if it meets your "not weird" category. There is a little girl in my daughter's class named Darah.

I wanted something unique for my son as well so when I heard the name Daylan I knew that was the name I wanted and it went so well with the middle name which I already had picked out. Hope you like it as much as I do. BTW, it is a form of Dillon

I liked Devon for a boy or girl, recently though I saw Daveigh for a girls name and thought that was very pretty. Good luck either way!

Read if you have time: I was in your shoes and was in need of a "D" name for my daughter who is 21 months now. I love unique names but the letter "D" was so hard to be unique. My daughter comes from a blended family where there are 5 other siblings. They all have a matching first initial with a sibling except my one and only son, who's name happens to be Demitri. Have you ever thought of combining names? I know it sounds really funny but in my case it worked out. My daughter was diagnosed with Down Syndromes from the very beginning of my pregnancy up unto she was born. Ran every test possible and even got second opinions, I was even advised to abort! Long story short my husband's oldest daughter's name is Monique and my oldest is Demitri. I believed with all my heart that God had sent an angel to watch over me and my child that was diagnosed with D.S. Therefore I created the name "DiAngelique" "D" for Demitri and "ique" from Monique. Because this child signified the blending of all now 6 children. She was born April 27th, 2007 and was born perfectly healthy with NO down syndrome. Hope this little story helps you out...be blessed!

I was reading some of your replies, you really have got alot of them. I think there are so many good names in there. I don't think that people repeating the names should scare you off though as one person said. It just means that people like those names, not that they are super popular. I don't know any kids name Declan and I love it, or Danica, or Dahlia for that matter. Good luck.....again.

Okay, the letter "D" for girls... Deborah, Donna, Danae /Da nay/, Danna, For boys, David, Donald. Sorry, I'm not very creative"

Hi Jackie,

We named our daughter Devlyn after my great, great grandmother. It's actually spelled Devlin (the male version) but I changed the i to a y to feminize. Hope this helps!!

Hint:  You may want to look at the most popular responses to realize that these names are probably being used a lot right now.  When I named my daughter Ashley in 1986 there were no Ashley's around.  Now look.  Enough said.

My son is 16 yrs. old now, and in our part of the world, hunting is a big hobby. I ended up naming my son after a gun I found in a gun book my husband was looking at. His name is Derringer. I could be wrong, but he seems to be the only one around! He still likes his name.

My oldest son is named Daulton (mostly often seen Dalton) we chose the English spelling for our last name. It was Patrick Swasey's character name in Roadhouse.

Delaney for a girl.....
