My daughter will be 17 months next week. Is it a good idea to introduce a potty.

NO no and NO! Babies can not control their bowel until the age of 2 and are a little older when in full control of their bladder. You may have some limited success with hit or miss with a potty but they are not potty trained at all it is just luck!

Wait for the signs from your child that they are ready to potty train. These are long periods of time with a dry nappy, trying to take the nappy off, not wanting to be sat in a dirty nappy and a general interest in the toilet. If you wait for these signs you are taking the stress out of potty training for you and your child and are more likely to be successful.

There are mothers on here that will tell you differently that they trained their child ridiculously early. All I can say is they must of washed a lot of floors and underwear. All three of my children were potty trained around 2 years 4 months and it took a week to get the idea and a month to be totally potty trained. Just look it up on a health care website it will state the earliest reccomended is 2 years.
