Is baby to young for solids?

My little boy is 4.5 months old. I have been giving him about a teaspoon of porridge in the mornings and he has about a tablespoon of mashed fresh steamed veggies at lunch. Is this too soon? He hasn't developed pincer grip yet but he has learnt to clutch onto things, so I was considering BLW. I refuse to take advice from my pediatrician.

Yes, 6 months is the age your suppose to wait until. Even then food is just practice until a year. So a baby under a year shouldn't really have solid meals a few times a day. Just little bites now and then.
