Is cutting meat out of my diet okay for my pregnancy?

I am 9wks and 2 days pregnant. I use to love eating meat. Steaks was a huge fav of mine now I find that I cannot eat a bite of any kind of meat other than maybe some shellfish, which I am allergic to but craving really bad for. I havent been able to eat a good balance diet because anything with meat in it just makes me gag. Anyone else having the same problems?

Those feelings should pass. I had the same problem, even more so with chicken. Just make sure you are getting protein elsewhere. I think I was able to enjoy meat and chicken again once I hit 6 months in the pregnancy.

It's very possible that this food aversion will pass. In the meantime, there are definitely other sources of protein that you can look into. I would check with a nutritionist to see what other options are available to you. Can you eat eggs? And cheese? Those are both high in protein, as are legumes. And don't forget to keep taking your prenatal vitamins.

you need to eat a balanced diet and if red meat or any meat in not tolerable just find other sorces of protine, and you should be fine. if you are craving fish it could be just the oils fish contains your body is looing for you can buy them in vitenin form (if you can take them) or you probably can find those oils in other foods with a bit of resurch

Go with that your body tells you. Eat all the colors of the rainbow, right? (not blue soda) but whole, organic, close to the earth .... you can get what your body needs in this manner. American's eat too much meat for good health ususally, so this is fine. Don't talk with your doc. They know nothing about good health :) Nurirition, I mean. Meat doesn't mean a balanced diet .... cuts out potatos while you're at it ... no nurtrition there. Cut out all processed foods, chemicals, sugars, artifical sugars, dyes ... your baby need nuritrition and is asking for that, so listen

Just make sure that you're getting enough protein from other sources. If you're unsure what foods contain lots of protein, you can ask a doctor or nutritionist. Or I bet you can even use google. =)
