Is it just me or is the pedi being way too invasive?

I took my son for his camp physical today at the local walk-in clinic and I think the doctor examined way more than is necessary. At the start, she asked DS "For boys, one part of the physical is the private parts, is that okay with you?". He said yes and I said yes, assuming it would just be "turn your head and cough". Once she got to "that part" of the physical, she asked him to drop his pants and underwear down to his ankles. She put on gloves then in addition to asking him to cough, she felt each testicle and spent a good 10 seconds trying to get his foreskin to pull back. Is all that necessary? it just me or is that pretty invasive for just a regular physical?

Well, actually…a physical is EVERYTHING. Would you rather have NOT had the full male physical, and then found out that he had, for example, testicular cancer? Don’t poo-poo that. It doesn’t matter what age, ANYONE can develop cancer and other urinary issues at ANY age. What your son got was a physical. If you’d wanted a check up, you should have just asked for a check up, not a physical.
Another thing: If you cannot trust your PHYSICIAN to be a safe zone…Get another physician. IMO, this one did nothing out of the ordinary for a male physical, and I’ve raised two boys.
