Is it normal for permanent teeth to come in crooked?? Can they straighten on their own?

My 8yr old son, has lost 8 baby teeth. Currently 4 on top in front are starting to come in. His 2 front teeth are coming in really crooked, like turned in towards eachother, almost in a V shape. Anyone else have this problem, and can they straighten without braces???

If he loses more teeth and the new teeth come in a bit smaller then yes, they can straighten out without braces. If the new teeth are bigger then it might be that his mouth is too small for the new, larger teeth and, if your dentist is okay with it, you could have them pull one or two teeth to make room - with that an a spacer his teeth could straighten out without braces. If the dentist isn't willing to go that route (and a lot aren't because there isn't any money in it) then if your son's teeth are still crooked he may need braces to correct them. Honestly, I would push for having a couple of teeth pulled and a spacer because it is much less of a pain in the long run.
My teeth were the same way as a child and I also had a jaw issue so I did wind up with braces (10 years worth) and my bottom teeth are still a bit crooked.
