She really started to ask me for soda but I am not sure if I should give her some

I'd say no.....
We held off on Soda until our son was about 6 years old, and even now we only allow the caffeine free ones, and only as occasional treats. Despite our efforts, he still gets the occasional caffeinated soda as a treat from his grand parents every now and again.

A sip or two won't hurt, but there is literally NO nutritional value, and they don't even aid in hydration, so there is absolutely no benefit whatsover to drinking soda, other than it tastes good. Secondly, they are HIGHLY addicting, so that one sip could turn into her wanting soda more and more frequently and before you know it, she's having a glass a day. The earlier you start, the stronger the addictive pull, so it is best to wait until she discovers it on her own.

Sure. Go ahead and sugar up your kiddo.

Offer her healthy alternatives. Soda can be a treat, once in awhile, but at 2...nah...

I get myself some tins of fanta for the summer. My son was aloud to have a sip or two from my fanta when he was 2. We drink veeeery heavily diluted sirup during the day. Or what my son calls "special water". Its half normal water half bubbly water. He calls it special water because i started to ask him if he wants special water after brushing his teeth in the evening. We also drink unsweetend tea. And some times he gets an ice tea or fruit juice.

Soda is actually almost being cut out completely at our house. I send one with my husband to work every day, and drink it probably 3 times a year myself. I am hoping this gets me away from having to deal with this when our child is old enough. It is ridiculously unhealthy, and one of the first steps I took to loose 100 lbs was to cut out soda.

Technically speaking... no one should have soda... ever. If she is asking this question a lot at only age 2... that's your cue that YOU are drinking way too much soda and should work on cutting back.. a lot.

That being said... both of my girls were 2/3 to start getting a sip of soda here and there. I think they were probably 6 or older to actually drink their own. 'I' rarely ever drink soda... so as young kids it really wasn't an issue. My son tasted it starting around that age, but didn't even like any of it til he was 5... He has had his own since around that age as well, but again... I almost never drink it, so the times he is allowed to have it at still only 7 years old are extremely limited.

LOL at the "Spicy" comment...Never thought about it, but that could be a pretty accurate description for a 3 YO

It is not the best choice. Mainly baby is asking because momma has it, and now she wants it. Pretty normal, but we have to be the ones to decide what is best.

Soda is full of sugar, and some are caffeinated. Neither thing is really good for a 2 year old.

My daughter at about 3 1/2 was sitting on my lap grabbed my cup and took a sip. She hated it. The bubbles freaked her out and they were to "spicy" on her tongue she said.

No. Your child is 2. It is okay to say no. How does she even know how to ask for it?
