my daughter is 20 mo and really into drinking juice, we usually don't let her have any unless it's watered down. lately i found out that she really likes the flavored bottled water so we've just been letting her drink that instead. my question is we've been letting her drink it to go to sleep, although it's just water she thinks she's getting juice. and is it just as bad to let her drink it since maybe the fake sugar is worse than the real thing?

i agree give her water before bed. juice milk or anything of that nature will harm teeth especially if she falls asleep with it! however, its the acid in juice thats the issue so i would say that flavored water although probably contains sugar is better than juice!

Water and milk are the best drinks for little ones. Juice is full of calories with no fibre, so not as healthy as you might think. Flavoured water is not good either. Artificial flavours and colours do harm to small children's growing bodies. Perhaps you could try to gradually add more pure water to her drinks until she is drinking pure water without flavours or juice added. Save juice and flavoured water for special occasions. ;-)

thank you, i'll keep a look out for that type of sugar. my daughter has milk before bed when we cuddle but i know it's not good for her teeth for it too be in her cup at night, i usually do water but i didn't think the flavored water would be much worse. it is water after all. i myself am trying to cut back on pop so we have plenty of the flavored waters to go around, i really just don't want my daughter to have a juice or pop addiction like myself... not if i can help it anyway. haha. i will ask her doctor but since we won't be seeing him until her next check up 2 yrs, i thought it'd be nice to have some other mom's opinions

Aspartame (which I am pretty sure is what's in flavored water) isn't particular good for adults so I don't know that it would be good for children. Persoanlly I would rather my son drink natural watered down juice than anything with aspartame. However with that being said I love flavored water and diet soda and in small doses I doubt it could do harm. I hardly ever buy juice for my 17 month old and sometime when he asks for it I put a little lemon juice in his water and tell him it's lemonaide lol.

I am not sure if it is bad for her or not. My 2 year old loves the flavored waters and I let him have them because he doesnt like water. He still drinks a cup of milk a night. I would just ask her doctor.
