Kids and social media

I have an 11 year old son who has already started to use Facebook without my permission. After I asked him, he gave me his login and password and now I can control his activity there. Nothing bad was found but I think that he will start using more social networks soon and my daughter will also start surfing online. I feel like it might become a full-time job for me to try to control their activity. Can anyone recommend something to control their online activities, alert me about dangerous behavior and give me peace of mind? Thanks!

It's called 'parental controls'. Set up a separate user account, and apply parental controls. You find it in your Control Panel on your start menu.

How is your 11 year old doing this without your permission? Don't you monitor his internet usage? It really isn't a full time job - children this age don't NEED a smart phone giving them internet access. And they can have a computer in a common, supervised, area of the house. Where else are they signing up to social media if you have these strategies in place?
