Ok I am 26 weeks along with my 2nd baby & about 2 weeks ago I had really bad pain below my baby bump. By the way I am bigger then I was with my first child at this time. What I figured out was it was my muscles being over stretched & unable to release once they contracted. It hurt A LOT especially when I tried to switch positions or stand up from sitting. From what you described it sounds like the same thing. What I did was take a good hot (obviously not too hot) bath to try to relax the muscles, then I sat on the couch with my legs stretch out in front of me & leaned back against a pillow to try to give plenty of room for those muscles to stretch out. It didn't go away right away but over a few days it lessened. You have to remember as your baby grows it throws your body out of whack. The muscles in your lower abdomen that used to be able to stretch & relax whenever you moved now have even less space & can tighten up without being able to release.

It COULD be gas it COULD be constipation or it COULD be something else. It could be a bladder infection starting I got a LOT of those when I was pregnant. It could be braxton hicks contractions (nothing to be concerned about it's basicly practice for the uterus) or it could be something a lot more serious at 21 weeks I wouldn't take any chances. I'd call and make an appointment for Tomorrow morning and if I couldn't be seen til Monday I'd go to the hospital and at least have a urinalysis and get hooked up to a monitor for a hour or two to monitor the heartbeat. I had a lot of issues when I was pregnant and a lot of preterm labor and even a half empty amniotic sac at one point so I wouldn't advise waving it off as constipation without being seen especially after you have gone to the bathroom. Its you and your baby's health and you shouldn't be in pain this early and without knowing what TYPE of pain you are having (sharp, dull, pulsing, throbbing, crampy, etc) or if you are having more pain directly after you urinate I really can't with good conscious advise you to sit and wait it out. It's always better to be safe than sorry and obviously this has you worried which causes stress which in itself isn't good for you or the baby. Go get checked out, maybe it's nothing or maybe you nip a nasty bladder infection in the bud.

Go back to the Docs for reassurance, you won't rest until you know everything is ok! I hope you are ok! :-)

Just saw your other post about your little one being bigger than most. If all else is okay with you and your little one I would not worry, aches and pains are part of the whole miracle of making life- wait until you are 8 months swollen and achey everywhere. I would almost guarantee round ligament pain. Google it. I really think this is what you are experencing, not sure what to do about the ache I just delt with it, but maybe some Tylenol if the ache is too bad.
Good luck

I agree with all comments above, call the doctor and make another appointment, maybe suggest an ultrasound. It doesn't hurt to make sure everything is ok, and chances are everything IS ok. Trust your gut instinct and just make sure.

If you are really worried and concerned go see your Dr. It could be many things, and it could be nothing. I too had several urinary tract infections when I was pregnant as well as a kidney infection and gallstones. I don't say this to frighten you in any way. Everyone and every pregnancy is different. Do what you need to do to put your mind at ease so you are not stressing yourself out.

Maybe you are experiencing round ligament pain this is caused by the ligaments that surround your uterus thickening to support your growing uterus and the resulting weight. This feels most like lower abdominal pain that can ebb and flow and at times be a bit sharp or can last like a dull ache. Usually starts around 16 weeks but can occur any time during pregnancy. Had this same thing for both pregnancies worse for the second baby and it was nothing to worry about, but if you are worried talk to you doctor and if he/she disregards issues or concerns you have you might take that as a sign and start looking for another OBYGN.
Good luck and Congratulations

Okay now that you said you're 21 weeks, I'm worried too. Call the doctor, if he doesn't think it's a big deal call another doctor.

id also advise to check with the doc again but i also has SERIOUS (what a friend callled) gas pain for a couple weeks around that time, felt like was getting stabbed there or somethin and it wouldnt ease even when i let some gas (or other) go just not as sharp a pain

i found rocking my upper body back and forth in big steady movements did tend to help if thats what is bothering you

i havent found any pain with braxton hicks (which i have alot) and the ligament pain i had seemed to feel more like a pulled muscle

I'd go ahead and go to the doctor or emergency room. Im a worrier and thats the first thing I would do. I hope it's just something simple like constipation but it's better to be safe than sorry.

maybe the baby is in an awkward position I would say to get a warm to hot shower or bath, Thats what I always did and I felt better after I got out then I would lay down for a bit.
