Moving on from a High Chair

My son is 18 months old and would prefer not to eat in his high chair.

He will happily just sit at the table and eat until he's finished so I think he's ready for the next stage and it will be good for him to be more independant but start to learn the boundaries for eating at the big table with Mummy :-)

The only problem is that he's not yet tall enough to reach the table easily.

I've had a look online but most booster seats etc I found all have built in harnesses.

What did you use for your toddler when they were ready to move on from the high chair?

For my 1st two kids I used the car booster seat, and it did work ok, but it didn't have a strap to hold it to the chair, so I always had to be right there when they climbed down for fear of it slipping. For my third child I just have the simple one from wal-mart. It has a strap that goes around the chair to hold it on, and it does have a safety strap that could go around the child's waiste, and I just don't buckle it.

You can use a booster seat that you would put in a vehicle or get a cushion that will prop him up enough.

our little man has just turned 15mths, but about a month ago he decided he was too grown up for the highchair at home, even though he happily uses one when we are out. We have a small table & chair for him at the end of our table, placed so he can see both of us, and he happily sits down there enjoying his meal and chatting away :-)
