My 10 year old daughter has ADD, things are getting worse at home and at school, besides meds what can I do?

My daughter is in the fifth grade, 10 years old and she has ADD. I don't want to put her on medicine. I tried the meds before, it seemed like it made her worse and she would keep repeating herself so I stopped. I'm getting more and more stressed out. Her grades continue to slip and I don't know what to do. She continues to lose things, lie and for her to do anything such as chores I have to repeat myself over and over again. My son is 7 and has to do more things than her because she just can't get the task done in a timely manner. She sneaks things and it seems like I'm wasting my time disciplining her because she will keep doing it. I'm screaming in the inside and I need help and suggestions on what to do?

Oh my gosh, that's a heavy load for you. My heart goes out to you. I applaud you for resisting the meds. You must first remember 3 things: Self care, self care. self care.

Do what ever you can to nuture and take care of your self so that you can cope. It sounds like you already are doing the right things & reaching out for help here is a good step. I will step aside and let the Mom's who have dealt with similar situations respond to you. God Bless you and your precious little people.

Diet changes, allergy testing - the Feingold Diet is supposed to be good for ADHD. Occupational Therapy sessions in a clinic site to help her learn how to cope. Reward charts with rewards at reasonable points for goal good behavior.
