my 10 year old throws all her clothes on the floor help

[deleted account]

My Mother threw a fit one time...I came home from school and most everything I owned...well, okay, everything that was on the floor...was in garbage bags. She made me carry them up into the attic. She told me for each week I kept my room clean, I could have one bag back. It took me a MONTH (3 bags) to get my wardrobe/makeup/books/music stand and even half a peanut butter and jelly sandwich back.
To this DAY...if I hear someone shake open a trashbag...I scan around the room to see if anything I own is on the floor.

And you want her to put them in the hamper?

So, she throws them on the floor.

You wash what is in the hamper.

Her clothes don't get washed.

She needs clothes washed ... she can wash themself or remember to put them in the hamper ....

This is a huge problem with my girls 4 and 7, what happens when they don't have anything clean, do I let them go to school in pajamas or what? I am struggling!! :)

I told my kids if they didn't pick up their clothes off their bedroom floor, or the bathroom. I'd take pictures, and post it up on my blog for tips on how to get my kids to pick up after themselves. So, after a couple of times I did that with pictures up online. They don't do that anymore, well not as much, and if they do. I just remind them that my camera is close by. Since they know I'm serious, and I've already youtubed some of the things they've done, they know I mean it.! and a 10 year old should know better and should pick up after herself rather than expect you to pick up after her.

Yep. My 6 year old is a shocker for it too, and if it isn't in the laundry, it doesn't get washed. However, it is also her responsibility to keep her room tidy, and this has become a daily thing (if I let her leave it until the weekend, it is an overwhelming nightmare), so she has to tody it each night before dinner so that when I take her to bed, I can see that it is tidy. So am finding the clothes issue is less of a problem now too.

What JuLeah said is what I do with my 5 year old. Unless it's in a hamper "I didn't see it" so it didn't get washed.
