My 10 yr old daughter has just been diagnosed with cognitive delays

My wonderful funny beautiful daughter has just been diagnosed with cognitive delays.
She went to preschool and when she hit kindergarten I pulled her out to homeschool. She had such a hard time with academic skills and I thought she was just a slow learner. I was not making any progress so I sent her to a private school for kids who have learning differences. She made some progress but not enough for the school.

We just had her tested thinking it was dyslexia or another learning disorder. The diagnosis was developmental and cognitive delays. I was devastated. She is well behaved, is a video game genius, and a delight to be around. I haven't been able to find any help for her. The special ed class at the elementary school is not appropriate, and private school that specialize in kids with learning differences say she will be lost.

Any insight you can give me would be greatly appreciated

Hi Beth,

There is a new organization called that helps parents of children with learning disabilities. It may have some resources and tools that would be useful to you: No affiliation, just wanted to share.
