my 11 year old only wants to watch TV. She does not want to do chores or study.

My 11 year old daughter does everything to get out of doing chores or studying. What truly gets me upset is, she will say she does not feel well hoping to get out of doing any chores or studying. About an hour later she has a miraculous cure.

My daughter wants to turn on the TV immediately upon waking up and wants to go to sleep with the TV on.

My daughter does not listen to anything I say--just like the characters on her TV programs, she talks back and tells me she doesn't want to do chores.

Sure would love to hear your response.

Another thing I do is if my daughter doesn't do her chores by choice, I don't do my chores either. One of my chores is making dinner, if she wants dinner she needs to turn the televison off and do her chores, then after she does that, she needs to go outside and play.

Sounds like she has the tv in her room? (I am just guessing that by you saying that she wants to go to sleep with the tv on). Time to take it out of her room. If she can't use it responsibly, she can't use it at all.

Cut the cable and completely ban tv until her attitudes and actions turn around... and then limit it to an hour or two a day at most.

If she doesn't feel well.... she can lay in bed and read a book (perhaps a school book) until she feels better. Then she can get to work on her chores.

Take the television away, she can have it back when the chores are done, all of them. Then restrict what she watches and how long.
If you take away the distraction, you take away the excuses
