My 14 year old daughter moved out of my house 10 months ago and will not talk or come see me. She wants me to tell her I have lied to her about her dad her whole life. I will not. I keep trying to talk to her, she doesn't want to talk to me. She says she has a new mom and a new family now and is happier then ever and wants me to leave her alone. How do I come to terms with her decision? I'm making myself sick, something has to change! Help me!

I must admit, I have the same questions as the other ladies - more info needed. Where is she living now, and what did you tell her about her dad that makes her think you lied to her?

Is she allowed to go live at someone elses house? Can't you call the police and call her a runaway?

I would try to get a family councellor who both of you can talk to. You can tell her you want to speak with her and you understand there are a lot of issues going on but you're hoping you and her speaking with a councellor will help air things out.

The question is, DID you lie to her? If so, it's time to be an adult and admit the mistake.

If not, then you've got a couple of choices. Surrender her to the state, let them pay for her. Or, offer to reimburse the family that she's staying with for her food and necessary expenses.

Oh, and if you're paying for any extras for's the time to stop...

Unfortunately it's almost impossible to talk rationally with a teenager.

I know this is probably the last thing you want to hear but give her space. It may take a couple of months or a couple of years but the more you push at the moment the further you will push her away.

I know it doesn't help the hurt you are feeling but she needs the space to find the truth for herself.
