According to the Mayo Clinic website, mononucleosis sometimes leads to a serious condition called chronic active EBV infection, which is characterized by persistent illness more than six months after the initial mononucleosis diagnosis. Also, folks with weakened immune systems CAN get mono more than once, people like my daughter who was born missing several important chunks of her immune system. There are also illnesses such as hepatitis and toxoplasmosis that can mimic the symptoms of mononucleosis.
Her doctor needs to get off his butt and look into things further. If he won't then get another doctor.

I have an immune disorder that characterized itself like this (starting with mono) when I was 15. I had a rash on my hands and feet that didn't itch, I slept for 14 hours a day, and a low grade fever that would come and go.
Take her to the doctor and demand he act like a damn doctor and DO something.

Sounds like mono. Ask for a blood test.
