My 2 year old has been on Pediasure (plus regular milk)ever since she's been off formula. Now we've stopped the Pediasure to on 100% Milk. But she is so gassy, all the time. I was thinking I should switch to Lactaid or Silk since her baby formula was soy based. Any suggestions?

I work for a pediatrician and we recommend the Silk milk very often for babies that have been on soy formula.  My 2 sons were lactose intolerant and so my 3 year old drinks the Lactaid and has been ever since he stopped formula and no problems.  I would definatly give the Silk a try and you will be amazed at the difference you see and your child will feel so much better.

Best of luck!!

Lactaid milk works well it has the vitamins needed. My daughter has been lactose intollerant all her life and she suffers terribly with any milk products. They say soy products are not all that good for you now. She had soy as an infant as well. Also pay attention to products that contain milk read all labels. Hope it helps

what harm is it doing to keep her on the baby milk? my little girl still has the odd bottle or cup if she want's it ,in fact i reckon it's cheeper than fresh as the rest of my family have grown up and to buy fresh full fat milk would go off before my little girl would drink it all but the formla keeps

Hi Rebecca,

My daughter was like that.  She was terribly gassy and it was a milk allergy.  I took her off of milk completely and the problem went away.  You can talk to your pediatrician about switching her to Lactaid.  They even have a blood test to determine if your child has an allergy to milk.  I have 8 children and 3 of them are sensitive to milk.  We have used rice milk and soy milk successfully.  My daughter is 12 now, and still is unable to tolerate milk.  Our pediatrician suggested a calcium supplement, as well as eating more cheese.

I hope this helps you.  Good luck!
