My 3 1/2 year old is terrified of having a bowel movement, and I need advice?

My 3 1/2 year old daughter has always had a terrible time trying to have a bowel movement. In fact, she sometimes goes days without having one and refuses to eat anything in fear of having one. Our pediatrician asked me to put Miralax in her milk daily, but she still holds them in. I have been trying to potty train her, but this has pretty much made my attempt fruitless. We go a few days that are peaceful, and then two or three days of her screaming in pain trying to have a bowel movement. I don't know if she is holding it in, or its just so large it hurts....I don't know what to do at this point. Has anyone ever gone through this??

Oh geez. She needs to go so she doesn't get impacted. It's very common for them to do this. My 3 year old doesn't but I've heard of them doing this.

Try a rewards chart. See if it helps. My guess is she's holding it in. Why? I don't know. But maybe if you give her that extra incentive she'll go.
