Is she reading chapter books? All of the Authors listed above are awesome but those are what my 3rd graders where reading. Look for books by Robert Munsch, Mark Teague, Mem Fox, Cynthia Rylant, they have wonderful upper level picture books. Or series like Amelia Bedelia, Flat Stanley, Henry and Mudge, Nate the Great Junie B Jones are stepping stones to chapter books. Also Time Warp Trio and Magic Tree house are a little more difficult Make sure that whatever she is reading she is understanding...it is great if kids can read difficult books but if they don't understand whats going on then it is defeating the purpose of reading the book. Sorry, the teacher in me just reared its head :). If she is reading and understanding higher level books, congrats!!!!!!

I agree with Lisa on the Junie B Jones series. They are wonderful. My daughter ate them up and they got pasted to her cousin who went through the series.

'The Magic faraway Tree' by Enid Blyton. A bit dated, but an excellent story.

I agree Angie, she is advanced for her age in reading and do read chapter books but at the moment I try not to get the one's with alot of chapters as I don't want her to think its too much, its so hard at this stage for me everytime we go to the local library the books are either too easy or not right for her age, maybe I should try fun magazines as well ???????

Anything by Beverly Cleary if she's reading chapter books. My daughters like Harriet the Spy and Geronimo Stilton as well. Keep her reading - it's a great skill. I think if a child can read, they can learn anything!

Mo Willems is AWESOME! We're big fans of Gerald and Piggy here. :)

However, she may be too old for Mo Willems. But they are great books. Even my husband and I like reading them. :}

Magic Tree House Book Series. She might be a little young for it depending on how advanced she is. Frog and Toad are some good beginner chapter books.

Roald Dahl, Judy Bloom, Beverly Cleary, Welwyn Katz, Frances Hodgson Burnet. Those are the ones I remember from about that age. Good luck, and congrats on having a reader!
