My Nearly 8 year old has always struggled with her reading, she has always been right on the border of just where she is meant to be . Now it is really affecting her confidence. I don't know where to go from here??

If you're looking for advice on the academic issues, then my advice is to ask the school to do a special education evaluation. It's a long process but well worth it. Find out who is the special ed rep in the school. Send an email and print a copy so that it's in writing.

Say something like this: "Please start the special education evaluation process for CHILD'S FIRST AND LAST NAME. I suspect she has problems with reading, so whomever you have on staff to best evaluate those issues would be most welcome.
Can you send home the permission paperwork with CHILD'S NAME today?"

Once you do that, the school has a legal obligation under federal law to conduct an evaluation. Don't take "no" for an answer. They also have a certain amount of time under which they have to take action, so let me know if they delay so that I can look up the timeline for you.

If you're asking about the bullying, then get Speak Up and Get Along and read it WITH your daughter. It's concise and excellent. I have a whole web page about using it to "bully proof" kids.
