I am new to this group. I have 3 children. Two who have autisim. My eldest son who is 12 goes to a special school and he is being bullied. I have had several meetings with his school and have been assured that the problem is being addressed yet it is still continues. My son is very very stressed and very scared of the playground. He was told during the week that he will be bashed very bad and as you could imagine his anxieties have hit an all time high. I was just wondering if anyone knows of who I can contact to assist me with this ongoing problem. Thankyou

You can write every instance of the bullying in a log and contact the teachers/principle even the school board if you feel it is not being addressed properly. In general I would tell you to switch schools but since it is a special school I can see how that would be difficult.

Can you sign him up for martial arts? Obviously there is a wide range of 'severity' on the autism scale so if he is severely autistic this may not work. On that note both my parents run Martial Arts schools (and my sister) and have had autistic children in their classes (usually medium to high functioning). It may be beneficially for him in terms of self-defence and self-esteem.

It sounds like a really tough situation to be in, I wish I could help you more. If you can't get things sorted out through the school is it possible for a councellor to try to have talks with the children bullying your son? Or have some sort of mediation? I know that isn't ideal but nothing else has worked as of yet right?
