My baby is 12 months old, and never showed interest in crawling and now I thought she would start to walk but does not show much interest, not to do I'm a little worried if something is wrong, besides that their behavior is very active play, talk and eat well.

I really hope you can help me is my first baby and I'm a little scared

My daughter only did the "army crawl" on her forearms, never crawled on her hands and knees. She walked at 15 months.

HUmm, well ... do you carry her all the time? Does she get a lot of time on the floor to practice? If she wants a toy that is just a bit out of reach, can she get to it, or do you get it for her?

If you hold her, can she support her weight? If you hold her up, will her legs move in a walking kind of manner?

On her back, will she push your hands with her feet?

So, a couple of things might be going on ... I have met kids this age who don't crawl or walk because they were never on the ground long enough to try .... never had to learn.

And, I know kids who were in need of intervention (physical therapy) ... I'd take her to see a doctor because really were she mine .... but if her legs are strong, she can support her weight, she can 'walk' with assistance ... then I'd not worry too much. Have her practice. Put her on her tummy ... put toys she wants just out of reach ... get on the floor with her and encourage her to come to you ... good luck

I wouldn't worry about the walking at all yet. You will get some really early ones around 10mos. walking or starting but most kids don't start until right now or even later. However you mention your child wasn't interested in crawling so not sure if they have even done that yet. If the baby doesn't crawl either then I would talk to a Pediatrician. They should at least be pulling themselves up on tables and crib sides. Maybe not standing up without support but if there is no standing and pulling themselves up on furniture to a stand then I guess I would start having a conversation with someone. Make sure to that you are giving them plenty of time on the floor to play. I have seen some kids delayed becasue the parent never puts the kid down. We have friends who just adopted from China and they do lots of swaddling there so she was delayed in crawling, rolling over etc. but it has only taken her 1-2 months to catch up. She just needed the opportunity to move.

All children develop at a different rate. My eldest son was a big baby when born so he did not walk porperly until he was 17 months as his muscles could not bare his weight, my second son was walking at 10 months and my daughter did not crawl much either but at 14 months she just stood up and walked the length of the lounge. Don't worry to much there is nothing wrong with your child.

I wouldn't worry just yet. Two of my nieces didn't walk until they were about 18 months old. Nothing wrong with them just a bit lazy I guess.......Why walk when you can crawl.bumshuffle at twice the speed lol!
