My 11 month old baby LOVES the television! I feel like I am creating a monster, but then I have so many people that say "hey, take advantage of it while you can!" Any thoughts on this? She only watches the "BabyFirst" Channel, Care Bears, and Blues Clues, but I swear!- she is an ADDICT! I try books, blocks, toys, everything. Any thoughts on this?

At that age, you should just keep it off. But, if you do want to allow some programs, the slow-paced, educational sort are the absolute best. Blues Clues is a good one. Here's a great TED talk about kids and TV:
I found it to be very informative and it helped me make a lot of decisions about my son's TV time (my son is 4).

TV cultivates passive learning. You want her to be a participant in learning, not a spectator. Engage her face to face. I promise you she will be more interested in time with her mommy than a glowing screen.

Please be careful with the use of the TV. It isn't a healthy habit, at any age. It encourages kids to be sedentary and need to be entertained every minute. It produces a 5 second attention span (which their school teachers will tell you is a big problem when it comes to learning). And, even worse, early TV watching has been shown to have an addicting quality for kids susceptible to Autism, and to greatly worsen the severity of Autism.
Use classical music or movie soundtracks (without words) at this age. It is so much better, even though you can't use it as a baby sitter. Protect your young ones, because at this age, they are completely dependent on you.

Turn off the tv. Watching tv can be harmful to one so young... or for anyone, but especially that little. Limit her to a half an hour a day or less as much as you can.
