My daughter has been studying so hard and has recently asked to borrow my reading glasses to wear while she studies.

My daughter is studying for her school tests and examinations. She has recently informed me of blurred vision whilst revising notes and textbooks, and has asked to use a pair of my old reading glasses while she studies. I've been letting her use them for a while, and she says they help her at school. I can't afford to take her to the optometrist and buy her glasses, so would it be okay for her to continue like this for a while?

No. She needs to go to the optometrist. If you cannot find the money in your budget, call your local churches and charitable organizations and they will pay for the visit. Wearing the wrong glasses for extended periods of time can make her vision worse.

No. She needs to have her eyes tested to ensure any glasses correcting her vision are okay for her eyes. Sorry, but in the best interests of your child you are going to have to find the money to get this done or she will suffer for it in the long term. It won't do long-term physical damage, but it is important to have the correct glasses or it can cause headaches, eye strain, blurred vision, and may impact on her education.
