keep talking to her, reading and pointing things out. she'll catch on. my son is 18 months and he only says four words. dr said she's not worried unless he's still not talking much by 2...some children are just a bit later then others. my son understands everything i say to him (close the door, go find your cup, put your clothes in the basket, lets clean up the toys, etc), he's just not too interested in repeating me

Have you expressed your concerns to her pediatrician? Sometimes it's perfectly normal for a child to not talk much yet at that age, and sometimes its indicative of something else. There's really no way to know for sure.

If it's any consolation, my own 19-month old, up until this week, only said mama, dada, uh-oh and "dat" (that). But this week, he's already learned two new words, so I anticipate his vocabulary exploding in the next while.

However, just to reassure yourself, why not ask her pediatrician about it, so that if there IS something wrong, you're addressing it and dealing with it?
