Becoming a vegetarian isn't a sign of depression. I was a vegetarian off and on from the time I was 6 or 7 until around 17. I even tried being vegan for a summer when I turned 13. Not everyone is a meat eater. Some people genuinely don't like the taste of meat, some people change their diet due to religious or moral beliefs, there are a lot of reasons why someone would change the way they eat. I would just respect her decision and feed her other foods with protein and iron so she doesn't suffer from a protein deficiency. She's old enough to decide if she wants to eat meat or not. There are a lot of great meat substitutes out there because there are so many people who are vegetarians or vegans. You can both research recipes on the Internet and teach her about proper nutrition and even how to cook. There's nothing wrong with her, she just doesn't want to eat meat anymore.

Not eating meat does NOT cause depression. I have been a vegetarian for 19 years. You do need to feed her other sources of protein like dairy products, beans, tofu, even high protein pasta. Some breads have complete proteins like Ezekiel bread. It is pricy but worth it.

How old is she? Have you looked into the alternative sources for protein?
