My Little Man used to sleep really well up until a few weeks ago, he keeps waking up in the night crying and when we go in and lie next to his cot (we show him no attention or eye contact) he will go quite quickly off to sleep, this normally happens 1 to 2 times a night. In the past week he wont go off to sleep without us next to his cot. Really need advice dont know if he will grow out of it or if we should be comforting him.

I really would strongly suggest you do not lie next to his cot. Everytime he wakes up he will expect you to be at the side of him. A child will wake often through the night like we do as we roll over. Go into him settle him with a dummy or favourite toy and leave. This wake up and cry for mum or dad is habit forming and if he is getting a response of you coming in and sitting with him he will never learn to self settle. The only option left to you now is to let him cry it out, I know it is hard, but it is the only way he will learn that there is no point waking two or three times a night if it does not get a reaction. Good luck!

Has there been any change in his routine or your life in the past few weeks? Is he still teething? My daughter occasionally has night terrors. If nothing has changed and he is not teething it probably is a stage he is going thru. My daughter has always been an excellent sleeper, but I remember around the age of 15 mths for about 2 mths she did not sleep well at night. She would wake up and cry. We used the same method most nights, some nights we were just too tired and would bring her in with us. One night it just stopped. I would just continue what you are doing for a little while longer - it should stop. Good luck!
