Absolutely no water under 6 months.. ever. If baby is breastfed on demand there is no real need for water under 12 months, but an ounce or two a couple times/week in a sippy cup (after at least 6 months) is OK to teach them how to use a cup. My son had a sippy cup for the first time at 7 months, but it was a rare occurrence just for the learning experience.

There is no reason to give water, and at this age, it can be dangerous to do so. Baby has all the hydration they need with breast milk.
