My Son cries when he is spoon fed.

My son is almost 6 months and I'm having a hard time on figuring out how to feed him. I tried feeding him cereal by the spoon but he cries and cries. He does the same with his baby food in the afternoon. It's like the bottle is comfort for him so he cries til he gets it. Or he acts like I'm not feeding him fast enough but no matter what it seems he just wants his bottle. I feed him cereal in his last bottle at night and when I'm feeding him baby food I try and feed him a little earlier so he's not starving. I'm a new mother so any advice will help please.

Dove is right, forget the solids. If he is content wit the bottle or your breast, leave well enough alone. You will know when he starts watching you eat and tries to reach out for pieces of food. "Food for fun until baby turns one" is the rule my pediatrician gave me. I certainly did start solids sooner than age one, but it takes a load off your mind when you know they don't NEED it eat the solids you offer.

He's not ready. He doesn't need ANYTHING other than breast milk or formula at this point. Stick w/ just his milk and try offering him soft, easy to handle finger foods in a few weeks. He'll let you know when HE is ready for food... and then there will be no stopping him. Formula or breast milk provides all the calories and nutrition that a child NEEDS under a year... so take his lead and relax. :)
