Don't feel guilty about leaving your son with his grandma. I would do an over night every now and then to help yourself becuase when it comes to it you may not be able to emotionally leave your son for 10 days for the first time without him. If he stops breastfeeding it's not the end of the world either. you can still pump and feed him from a bottle or just do formula. You won't be a terrible mother. I know several mothers who breast feed and then go to a bottle when they return to work. I think it's good for children to depend on other close family members every now and then. My son went to day care and when he got older went on over nights and even did a 10 day vacation with my mom and dad. Giving him time away from me help him be less clingly and able to function in a healthy manner without me and allowed me to get some time to regain my sanity. :)

You couldn't pay me to even leave a 6 month old over night (never left any of my kids over night under 2 years) much less 10 days. I would never consider it unless it were a life and death matter.... and I'd still probably take my baby anyway. ;)
If you do leave him... he may or may not take the breast when you come back. It would probably be a lot of work to get him to relatch. You will have to pump every 2-3 hours while you are away from him if you want to keep up your milk supply though.

i couldn't imagine leaving my new baby with ANYONE for 10 days.... heck i couldn't imagine leaving my kids at 8 & 9 for 10 days... but to each their own.... I don't know if he would remember how to latch on after being completely with out for over a week.
