When my son was nine months old his doctor had me switch his formula to soy. He will turn one next week. Do I put him on regular milk or have him go on soy milk?

Why did he go on soy milk? Is is lactose intolerant? If so give him lactose free milk. Even so, most babies need to get used to milk. So i'd slowly transition him into it. If he takes 3 bottles of soy milk aday, make one bottle lactose free milk for like a week, then the next week, push it to 2 bottles of lactose free an then so on. He may have a runny stool for a little while until his system adjusts. Its normal. Good Luck

Did you know that giving your son soy formula is like giving him 5 birth control pills a day! I would research other alternatives. There's goats milk, there is a herbal formula: alfalfa tea mixed with coconut milk and add a touch of karo or stevia or catus sweetner. Baby and toddllers do not need soy milk. Unfermented soy is for those who want to stunt their lebido or help with menopause. Be very careful! I ate too much during preganacy and gave my son a weekness for hypospadia.

Speak to your doctor. My son was on soy formula we put him on cows milk and it made him heaps worse. He turned 3 this week and still drinks soy milk.

My son drank soy formula we put him on whole cows milk at a year, he did just fine. But I would speak to your doctor especially since the dr. suggest soy formula- most do not.

Joy, where did you get your information? There are small amounts of phytoestrogens in soy but, honestly, 5 birth control pills a day????? Make sure you check your info with a reputable place before you pass it along. The only place I could find that statement was left by an untrained person on an ASK forum.

Thanks everyone for all the helpfull information. He will have a doctors appointment soon and I will ask the doctor some advice as well but I think I will try to give him regular milk first and see how it goes.

Each kid is different. Both of my sons were on soy formula. Then at 1 year, I just took the bottle away and gave them milk. They both did just fine. You could try it and see, that is gonna be the best way to find out.
