My son turned 2 years on the 9th of this month and I know he isnt ready for potty training because of his vocabulary for one...but what can I do to help get him ready because I can feel that it is going to be a battle. he is the baby out of 5 and very spoiled....:(.......The biggest problem is now that he had turned 2, some daycares are telling me that he needs to be potty trained, in order to enroll, and I am ready to seek childcare for him outside the home.

I don't think it's right for a childcare facility to require that a 2 year old be fully potty trained. That's kind of ridiculous! They should know that most children aren't fully trained until age 3. I haven't potty trained my 2 year old because he is developmentally delayed but he knows what the potty is and how to sit on it. I am working with him slowly and I feel that all parents should let their child decide when it's time to train. If you force it on him, I'm sure it will be even more difficult and frustrating for everyone. But to help get him ready, take him to the bathroom with you. Tell him about the potty. When you change his diaper, say "wet!" and when you put the clean diaper on, say "dry!". This will help him distinguish between having a clean and dirty diaper. Always be encouraging and positive when training. If he isn't comfortable, he won't want to go. Good luck!
