Napping problems

My five month old has such a hard time falling asleep for naps, she sleeps great at night, 8 - 10 hours straight. She is tired and all basics are taken care of (fed, changed etc.) but she will take 1-2 hours to fall asleep. And the whole time she is screaming and crying, not whining, but screaming. I dont want to let her cry it out but i'll go in to calm her down and then the minute i leave the room she starts screaming again. And I do want her to learn to fall asleep without being held/rocked to sleep. Its been like this for 2 months and im so discouraged, I just don't know what to do. Any advice?

I always nursed my babies to sleep. I'd hold/rock her to sleep for naps. Especially since she sleeps so well at night. This won't last forever.
