Need help: 4 year old not acting his age

I have a 4year old boy, he is the first and only child in our family so he besides daycare (5 days, 9-1) and play dates he is home with me and his dad. When we go to a playground he constantly needs me to be around him and he doesn't seem to socialize well with other kids as he doesn't follow, he doesn't like losing and he keeps bosses everyone to follow his directions. I understand that it's my fault for playing along as he liked through the years, I really want to help him act like the kids his age. What can I do?

Both of my boys were a lot like that when they were young. Some people are just natural born leaders and sometimes they just need more structure. The time in daycare is not enough to help you judge. Put him in a hands on class with other kids his age. Perhaps tumbling or soccer. These group activities should help. Unfortunately both of my boys ended up having ADHD but I think at four it is way too young to jump to that suspicions. Your strong willed child will pay off in the long run just give him structure and group activities.
