I am currently BF my 21 month old. I am not going to start weaning right away but I would like to get some info and good tips for when I do start trying to wean him. How do I do it? do I cut down, stop cold turkey, only at certain times?? I BF my daughter but she only did it for a few months and then she self weaned because we were always running around and I was working so she would get bottles a lot. My son, I have been home with since birth and he took to the feeding a little better. any information would help. Thanks!

No, I definitely wouldn't stop cold turkey, that would hurt you and could be quite painful. The way I did it is I took away one feeding (in the daytime to start) and then I believe I waited a week or so and took away another one (also in the daytime). I believe by the time I start weaning which was around when my son was 10 months old, he was already down to 4 feedings a day. By this point, I only had the feeding first things in the morning and before bedtime left. I then eventually took away the morning feeding. The night time feeding is good for soothing so it was the last to go. Also, where the bfs were cut out, I would give a sippy cup with some milk or a little bit of juice. It all worked out fine. No problems.
