I don't know if I'm in the minority here, but this Halloween we aren't doing anything special with our daughter. Mainly because she's only 6.5 months old and will be asleep before trick or treating even starts, she will have no idea what's going on, can't eat candy, and will get extremely upset if we even attempt to put a costume on her. I keep seeing friends of mine with children the same age buying costumes and planning to take their babies trick or treating, and I'm starting to feel a little guilty that the extent of her fun times will be Halloween pjs her grandma bought her lol. Oh well.

I didn't take my son trick or treating for the first year. He was about 7.5 months old at the time. If I could go back, I wouldn't have taken him the next year either.
Sure, he enjoyed it. But it was WAY too much for him. He got way too excited and keyed up, stayed up way too late, got cranky and miserable, thus ensuing lots of screaming, crying and general frustration on everyone's part. It was a fun night, for about half an hour. . .then things kinda went down hill from there.
I don't see the point in taking small babies trick or treating either, unless they're going out with an older sibling.
That's what we did last year. We were lucky enough to find a bunting bag made up to look like a cat, so we bundled her up and threw her in that and took off with the stroller. She fell asleep halfway through, so it worked out well for all of us :)
Other than that though, no sense in taking a baby out in the cold to be miserable for, let's face it, the entertainment of the adults.
What I've known some parents to do, is to have a small Halloween style party for a few of their mom/dad friends with small children. Have some candy, snacks, etc let the moms who want to dress up their kids do so, and bring them over, oooh and aaaw over them. Lots of pictures, etc.
