and just another idea, why dont you have your newborn sleep his own space, then if your daughter is having troubles adjusting you can say...but look your little brother is sleeping in his own room, just a thought so you dont got to go through this all over again ;) best of luck to you!!!

Just wondering--why is she in a cot and not a crib? Does she already get ou of the crib? One other suggestion either way is to put a twin bed in her room temporarily. You sleep in her room for the first few nights and then gradually move out. It could also just be a mattress. I would definitely do this BEFORE the baby comes.

start now.....it won't work right away but start. put her there to at least to start each nap. my little ones were pretty hard to get to sleep i got some nursury rhyme cds and some pretty lights and eventually it worked...

thanx its going to be hard but i have 2... shes a very light sleeper thats why i need to move her out because she wakes up even if the bed makes a noise.

From experience, children get used to each others' noises. What do people do who don't have extra bed rooms?

We had a 2 1/2 year old and a newborn in the same bed with us, they still are at 5 1/2 and 3. We all get adequate sleep.

You just get used to family noises. Besides, if the newborn is sleeping next to you the baby doesn't really cry. The newborn snuffles and grunts, you half-wake, roll over and pop the babe on the boob and everyone goes back to sleep.

you have to be strong and keep making her stay in her room. since you allowed her in your bed she thinks thats normal. might have to have a tough week of losing sleep by listening to her cry or continiously putting her back in her own bed! GL.
