Ovary "stuck" to my Uterus? Have you heard of this?

I just found out today that my left ovary is stuck to my uterus. I have been having extreme pain in my lower left abdomen for the last couple days. I have been having ongoing moderate pain in the same area for years. They also found a 2.5 cm cyst on the same ovary (left). I wonder if there is any chance of my ovary going back to its normal spot, or is this something that requires surgery? I am on strong narcotic pain meds right now and am praying for the pain to go away. Has anyone ever heard of this? Any advice would be great.

Yes, I have, it is often caused by something called "adhesions", and is a common after-effect of abdominal surgery, but can happen as a result of any number of disorders. I have endometriosis, and adhesions are quite common. I had adhesions connecting my bowel and ovary at one point. I had to have surgery to remove the adhesion, it involved keyhole surgery, which meant a minor day procedure under general anaesthetic, and I recovered quite quickly (I was back at work in 4 days). Anyway, this might not be the same thing, but I would definitely ask questions about what has caused it.
