I am trying to get imput from the moms that have had or still has the Paraguard. I have heard good and bad about the iud and I chose to get it because I don't do well with hormones and I can't afford to be out to get my tubes tied. But what I am wondering is that of the moms that got the iud, how long after you had a baby did you get it put in and what kind of expirence did you have?

I didn't have Paraguard, but I did have Mirena. It was the best thing contraceptive-wise I've ever done. Your OB will likely have you wait at least 6 weeks for you to heal up after birth before they insert it. It's very much like a standard pelvic exam, except it can be more uncomfortable because the OB will have to stimulate the cervix enough to be able to insert the device.

The only issue I had with my IUD was that my doc didn't cut the strings enough and I had to go back in to get them trimmed because they kept poking me. When we had it taken out in preparation for my pregnancy with my daughter, I was pregnant within three months.
