My daught was born 2 months early and was 3lbs 1oz when born. she is now 9 months old and is only at 10lbs. We are having a lot of trouble with her gaining weight. we tryed everything. we put rice into her formula we have mixed her formula to make it 28 calories and she still having trouble. We also have her on a gtube to where she gets fed through out the night with formula she gets 24 ML pers hour. I'm wondering if anyone has gone through this and has any tips or advise?

If it were severe, despite her size being small now, the doctor would put her on 30 cal formula. So there is some leeway there! Yes, she should be bigger. If her calorie intake is sufficient to allow for growth greater (by quite a bit) than you've seen, there is a high possibility she has malabsorption and she would need a GI to evaluate this. One of my friends' babies is on TPN for the rest of his life, but his case was much more severe. It could be as simple as increasing her calories per ounce to >30, but max 45, and monitor kidney function closely since she's under the safe age for it.
