Phantom baby kicks?

Anyone feel like they are having baby movements when they are not. I had my baby almost nine months ago but occasionally i feel like there's still someone moving around in there. I never felt it before I got pregnant. My husband says it's just that I never noticed it before. Anyone else feeling the same thing or am I just missing being pregnant?

After reading these replies, I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one!! I'd freak whenever I feel it and my youngest is 2 1/2 yrs old...I would be checking my calendar and then remembering "duh I have my tubes cut and burned!" Lol guess just the thought alone is enough to freak out abt

Always! I bring it up to the doctor all of the time! It is the creepiest thing! My doctors blamed it on gas and movement, but I kept insisting that it had never felt like that before. They feel that, from having twins, it displaced my intestines just enough for me to feel this different sensation. After much pushing and questioning (and a slew of additional symptoms) my doctor tested me for Celiac disease or any gluten antibodies in my blood work and found that I was positive for the antibodies. Now, the phantom kicks usually occur when I slip up or accidentally eat gluten. When I googled it and read about it, I found that many other women and even some men complain about the same thing. It doesn't seem to be of much concern unless you have other concerning symptoms. The one thing I read that might be a concern is if it feels as if your aorta is pulsating or twitching. If it is always in the same exact spot at the center of your mid-section or a little higher, then pay attention. Otherwise, I wouldn't have any concerns.

I had to have an emergency hysterectomy after my 3rd child due to severe complications and I get what feels like movements still! I know it is gas or muscle spasm, because there is no way I can be pregnant, I think we just become more aware of these things after we have children, because they do feel similar to a baby kicking!!

I had my last child 16 years ago and i am 6 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child. I know what you are talking about. Before I even got pregnant again I had these strange feelings like there was a baby still sliding against my rib cage with little feet. I don't know what that is. But It sure feels strange doesn't it? I agree that it must be that we are more in tune with our body and sensitive to all movements after a child. After all that is when we pay the closest attention. Some habits are hard to break hehe

Your post made me smile - have you consider it might be gas bubbles? It could also just be your body rearranging itself again - there's a lot of muscles and facia that get displaced and maybe it's causing some twinges? I can relate with missing being pregnant. I remember feeling "empty" after I delivered. I would touch my belly and have to remember - Oh yeah - no one's in there anymore! congrats on your new addition!

Yep, I had them a few weeks ago. I was sitting at work, and got these weird muscle twitches under my ribs, and it felt EXACTLY like being kicked.

Yes. After both my kids. I kept thinking I was one of those moms from the "I didn't know I was pregnant" show on TLC. Until I seen other moms on COM claiming to have the same 'phantom kicks'.

Yep! I didn't get that after having my twins but after I had my son I got that. I've been getting it less and less since my son turned 2 a year ago. I've heard it's quite commun and nobody seems to really know why it happens.

I know what you mean lol. I get that bubbly feeling in my stomach and it makes me wonder if I'm pregnant but I'm sure I would be showing if I was.

This is very common and I still think I can feel movement and my daughter is 28 months. I think you are more body aware when you have had a baby.

More sensitive nerves internally now? Or things have shifted so now gas bubbles press on areas they didn't before and feel like kicks? Or it could be internal muscle spasms, which would feel similar, and related to having had a baby stretch things so much. I used to get that too, but not in the last year at youngest will be 4 soon.
