Looking for recommendations for a good humidfier that has both cool and warm mist options and doesn't use filters (ultrasonic). Need to buy one asap. Thank you in advance!

Quoting Nikole:

I was told by my ped that humidifiers are not good for babies/toddlers/kids because they make the infections worse. I would think twice about getting one for your child and ask your ped if this is something you should do...

I am sorry but i have to disagree with this.. When my son was 6 months old he got RSV was placed in the hospital with a COOL mist Humidifier running all day and night.. When we got out of the hospital his ped told my to use it from the time winter starts to the time winter ends..

I was also told the same thing by my daughter surgery and ped teams after she was born a got to come home..

Neither one of my kids have been sick now that I run the cool mist in there room during the winter. My son is now 2 years old and my daughter is 9 months ( 8month adjusted)

I am not trying to be rude or hurt anyones feelings..

I would speak with your babies doctor and see if they feel it is right for your child.. Overall i have never heard of a doctor telling anyone that they are bad for kids.. Now I do know that the Warm mist ones are not recimmened for kids...

Best wishes and take care

i just went and looked up on the internet and saw a couple different brands, vicks, bionaire, holmes, although none of the descriptions said it was warm and/or cool mist. they looked to be about $50. i never knew they made them, i would love to have a filterless humidifier!! thanks for posting this so i could find out about them as well. EBAY looked like they had a bunch for sale, u might be able to get one cheap there.

i use a Crane cool mist humidifier for children, its on the shape of a frog! its so cute. it helps your child with a dry cough and stuffy nose, helps relieve it with out the dredded bulb sucker!! I bought mine brand new off of ebay.

Mine is the cool-mist kind, as per our ped. recommendation. It is from Walmart-the Reliamist (something to that effect). It was $30 bucks thereabouts if I remember correctly.
It has no filter-other than the one on the inside (can't get to it). I periodically run vinegar through it during the day to clean it all out. It's super easy to use and keeps the room at our desired level of humidity.

My ped told me that a cool mist humidifier is the best if you have a sick child, helps them breath. It did wonders for my daughter when she gets ear infections or colds. We have a hunter cool mist humidifier. It has filters but they are washable...no need to buy more.
