Pot smoking mommies

Do you think its ok to be a parent and smoke pot? When i was in high school alot of my friends parents, i found out, smoked recreationally.. I thought it was insane cause my mother has always been anti drugs. I was told that it was something teenagers do, not 'grown ups'.
I have a friend who is a proud pot head and is also a proud mom.. i personally cant imagine smoking while trying to take care of my baby..
I dont know if this is a new trend or this is the way its always been or if more people are just more open with the fact that they are smoking parents.. Is it hypocritical to smoke and be a parent? Or is it an understandable thing to do?

I smoke occasionally. Only when the kids are not around. My mom was a regular stoner (which i am not). I really don't see a problem with it at all. I personally don't, but i could care less if someone smoked a joint then cared for their children, its not like they're drunk. Getting drunk and caring for your children is just asking for trouble.

I'm with Krista. If the parent is not "on-duty", then I have no issue with them having a few drinks or a joint or two. A lot of people view pot in much the same light as alcohol nowadays, so there isn't as much of a social stigma around it. So if one parent is sober and the other wants to have a joint, and the kids are in bed, that doesn't bother me at all.

But I wouldn't be impressed if both parents were wasted, or stoned out of their gourds, with the baby sleeping upstairs. You just never know when you'll have to be on-duty again, so you really do need your wits about you!
