I have a 2yr old girl that is just not understanding the whole potty training deal. she will use the potty sometimes when she is bare, but as soon as you put panties on her she treats them like a diaper. Is there anyone that has any suggestions on how I can help her understand that its not good to go in panties

Maybe she's not quite ready for the potty yet? I have heard of similar issues with potty training, so it could just be a matter of patience and consistency until she understands that she's not wearing a diaper anymore. My son wasn't potty trained until one month before he turned 3 and he caught on very quickly. I had tried the potty from about 18 months on, and hoped he might train around age 2, but his development trumps my notions and expectations every time. Just keep encouraging potty use, but don't force it. If she's not catching on, I would suggest waiting on the actual training and just keep the potty out and take it a day at a time.

Do not waste your money on the Pull Ups! That is like telling the child "You are a big kid now (but lets put this diaper on you just in case)".

Yes development has a lot to do with it. If she is not ready, don't force.

When she is ready, use a timer as an independent reminder for her to use the potty on a regular basis. Set it at 15 minute intervals, once she has mastered the potty at 15 minute intervals (at least 2 days), move the timer to 20 minutes. Again after she masters the potty at 20 minute intervals, move the timer to 30 minutes. The goal is to get her to understand that her body is giving her signals that it needs to use the potty. She is playing too hard and ignores the body signals.

Another idea would be to hand her the roll of paper towels and a trash can and have her clean up the mess (with your supervision). Now after she is done "cleaning" (maybe while she naps or the end of the night) you will want to go back over it with your cleaning solution and mop or carpet shampooer (depending on where the mess was).

Also make sure you have extra laundry soap as you will need it as well.

I potty trained Emily when she was 1 and 1/2 and did it using portable potty putting it on the bathroom buy her those underware that you can throw away if she has and accident. just keep her on the underware all day when she's at home and tell her to tell you whenever she needs to go potty but the potty has to be at the bathroom that's how she's gonna understand that whenever she needs to go potty that's were she goes . its gonna be lots of work cause your gonna have to take her to the bathroom every time but the work its gonna pay off wont take that long till she gets it
