potty training timing - how long to sit, and intervals btwn trips

my son is 2.5 and we are starting potty training, today... he has a potty, and pullups... i have my alarm set to go off every 30 mins to keep me consistent, and my sticker sheet for bribery... our issue is if we go every 30 mins, how long should we sit until we deem the trip unsuccessful? I try to stay positive, but it is kinda hard with no patience... should we go to an hr instead of 30 mins?

we have the perfect time for starting this adventure, because its supposed to be very cold, and we are not going any where till it gets better out... so we will be inside for a few days.

any advice is appreciated

I have no clue as I never did a timer and never MADE them sit. The timing really depends on the kid. My 3 year old nephew was peeing (and peeing his pants) at least once an hour, but my 2 year 9 month old son usually goes 3-4 hours (or more) before he pees.

Honestly, if you have no patience.... the best approach is going to be to let him do it himself. If you have an idea in your head of how it should go and it doesn't go that way..... it'll just be more stressful for both of you. If you have a potty chair I'd just stick it out whereever he spends the most time and let him go at his own pace.

Good luck!
