Pressure to Breastfeed for the first year

I just want to say to any Mom out there who has ever had any issue breastfeeding, please don't be hard on yourself. Whatever the professionals, doctors or even some other mothers might tell you, breastfeeding is hard, it takes a lot of effort and I really believe that any time you can spend doing it is great, be it 2 weeks or 2 months. Both of my girls have stopped after 4 months and it took a lot for me to not feel like I failed them. It's now being shown that difficulties with breastfeeding can even lead to depression. It's hard being a parent, putting so much pressure on mothers to be the perfect supermom is just unhealthy, for the mother, her children, and sometimes even a marriage. So cut yourselves some slack, I'm sure you're still doing a great job, and if you're reading this, that means you at least care enough to worry and that says a lot. Good luck with everything.

Very well said.
My first son I only managed to BF for 5 weeks, I was dreading the child health nurse coming around for her next visit because I felt I had failed. He did so much better on formula and was actually sleeping.
My next son I BF for 6 months and only stopped because I had to go back to work. My daughter I BF for 5.5 months until she self weaned.
