Pump and formula feeding.

I just had my son two weeks ago and breastfeeding was my one and only plan. It was going so well in the beginning, and then my nipples went to hell (cracked and bleeding). He stop latching so I started pumping. Visited with a lactation specialist and she has me on a wonderful nipple cream regimine, herbs to build back my supply, nipple shield, and pumping after each feeding for 10 min to also build back up my supply. To say the least this is exhausting and I still don't think he is properly latching and therefore I am offering a bottle of what I've pumped after each feeding and he is drinking every time . Are there any moms out there with this same problem. The solution I'm thinking about taking is pumping a few times during the day and supplementing with formula when breast milk is not available. Anyone done this? Any suggestions will be helpfu. My main concern is that my son be full, healthy, and happy no matter if its formula or breastfeeding.

Breast milk is always best but if you need to supplement and he will take formula it defiantly won't hurt him.
