Put my daughter up for adoption when she was born 4-25-1985

I have tried WV Children's Society and they say they can't find her adoptive parents. What do I do now? I have given WVCS my address and notarized documents to give to my daughter to get in touch with me. I don't know what else to do.

You could always do a Facebook campaign. I would suggest creating a new e-mail account to get responses, so your personal info stays safe. Write on white poster board: your name, that you're looking for daughter put up for adoption, birth date, adoption date (if different and known), adoption location, birthmarks, any other details you know, and e-mail address. Take a picture of yourself holding the poster board and upload it on FB. Tell all your FB friends to share, and their friends to share, etc. If you don't have a FB account, maybe you know someone who will post if for you. Expect to get junk mail. Hopefully you will get a lead. My half-sister that I hadn't seen in 28 years found me on Facebook.

Unless your biological daughter seeks you out, there really isn't much you can do.

If it was a closed adoption, many states seal the records and only allow them to be unsealed by the adopted child after he or she has turned 18 years of age. (Or, if the child is sick and critical genetic information can be obtained from the birth parents, the adoptive parents may have the records unsealed before the child's 18th birthday....that works differently everywhere though).

If it was an open adoption through a private adoption agency, and the parents were supposed to be keeping in touch with you, you could sue the adoption agency, but if you went through the foster system, you probably will not be able to sue.
